Welcome message from Prof Velile Notshulwana, Chair of the Local Organising Committee

VNotshulwanaOn behalf of the Organising Committee, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our most cordial invitation and the warmest welcome to all of you to the IASIA 2014 South Africa Conference being organised by the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University during June 30 – July 4, 2014 at the Boardwalk Convention Centre in Port Elizabeth South Africa.

This conference is organised in collaboration with the IASIA/IIAS organizations. Each organisation has a long history with the main objectives emphasizing the promotion and harnessing competencies of public administrators around the world.

The 2014 IASIA Annual Conference will be responsible for bringing together practitioners, academics, PhD students and young researchers in public administration and management, as well as contributors in the fields other than management and public administration under the theme “Good governance: The Position of Students, Scholars and Practitioners”

Besides the participation in the excellent symposia and discussion sessions which encourage exchange of ideas and sharing experiences, the participants will have the opportunity to meet high-level industry leaders, academicians, developers and decision makers from the region and various parts of the world; from the UN, AU, EU and other entities.

Furthermore, in the above conference, the delegates will have the opportunity to visit the host city, Port Elizabeth, which is one of the favourite tourist destinations in South Africa. In addition to its unique culture and exquisite architecture, the Nelson Mandela Bay has much to offer to the conference delegates.

Consequently, the delegates with their accompanying family and friends will have a great opportunity to join a variety of touring options arranged by the Organizing Committee to visit fascinating places in  the Nelson Mandela Bay area and beyond. Places such as, Addo Elephant Park; Red Location Museum; South End Museum; Nelson Mandela Bay Museum; Donkin Reserve Walk; Tsitsikamma National Park; walks along the beachfront would also be of much interest.

Finally, we would like to welcome you to this important conference which will be a milestone event in the history of the Nelson Mandela Bay. We hope that you will join us for what promises to be a stimulating and rewarding experience.
